To allow AnyDesk or Rustdesk to work correctly on macOS, you must grant permissions for these three specific system functions within your Privacy & Security settings:

  • Screen Recording: This allows the remote user to view your Mac's screen.
  • Accessibility: This allows the remote user to control your mouse and keyboard.
  • Full Disk Access: This is required specifically if you want the remote user to be able to transfer files to or from your device.

How to Enable These Permissions

  1. Open the Apple menu and select System Settings (or System Preferences on older versions).
  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
  3. Locate each of the three categories listed above (Accessibility, Screen Recording, and Full Disk Access). The category name may be slightly different.
  4. Find AnyDesk or Rustdesk in each list and toggle the switch to On.
Note: You may need to click the plus (+) icon to manually add AnyDesk or Rustdesk from your Applications folder if it isn't already listed.
  5. Restart the app to ensure the new permissions take effect.

While Screen Recording and Accessibility are mandatory for standard remote control, Full Disk Access is technically optional if you do not plan on using the file transfer feature.
